WSOP Main Event: Meet your November Nine
Posted by ThomasG | Filed under Stack Poker |

Inside the Rio Convention Center, 7,319 players took their seats over the course of four day-1 starts. 27 were left standing as the final day arrived. 18 hours later, our November Nine was decided. Michael Mizrachi, Jason Senti, Joseph Cheong, John Dolan, Jonathan Duhamel, Matthew Jarvis, John Racener, Filippo Candio, and Soi Nguyen were the nine that remained at the featured table in the Amazon Room
The final nine will all go home with $811,823(9th place money), and some time to strategize their plans for the final table. The Champion will take home a prize of almost $9 million and, of course, the coveted WSOP Main Event bracelet.
Candio made history as the first Italian player to make the WSOP Main Event Final Table.
“I’m so happy. I started my career three or four years ago. I won an Italian Championship in 2009. I worked hard for this career and I think it’s important for my mission. Young guys try to become professional poker players, they say all is possible, if I do it, they can do it,” said Candio.
Going into November, Jonothan Duhamel is the overwhelming chip leader. Here he talks strategy and what he would do with the money:
But Michael “The Grinder” Mizarchi is showing no fear:
“Every time when I don’t have any chips, I end up winning the tournament, and it seems like it’s going to go this way again,” said Mizrachi. Michael also just won the $50,000 Player’s Championship.
Soi Nyugen and Jason Senti will be the short stacks heading into November.
Nguyen, from Santa Ana, Ca, has played in only three other live tournaments before and admits that it was watching poker on TV that got him in the game.
“I saw it on ESPN and Chris Moneymaker, figured, if he can do it, why can’t I.”

The Fellowship of the Ring
Posted by ThomasG | Filed under Uncategorized |

The fellowship of the ring has begun in South Beach. Their eyes are set on a great journey next season. They will attempt a journey and mission to the NBA Finals. When they get there, they will most likely have to climb Mount Stables’ Center and battle the defending Champion Lakers(go L.A.). I thought I would give a little update from around the nation.
With arms raised, the Lebron “Witness” Poster has been hanging for many years from the Landmark Office Building on Prospect Avenue next to The Q, where the Cleveland Cavaliers play.
Then the Great Defection was carried out. Lebron James would be heading to South Beach for next season. Within minutes, Cleveland became a burning city. Hundreds of Lebron jerseys were burned that night, and the ashes were scattered along the streets of Cleveland. Cleveland is mad. They are angry. I understand their pain.
Josh Cribbs could become the new #1 in Cleveland. Shortly after the Defection, a friend of Cribbs emailed him this image “True to My Word:”

Cribbs loved the photoshopped image so much that he posted it on his twitter page http://twitter.com/joshcribbs16.
Cribbs is friends with Lebron though. It was all in good fun. However, there could be a real Josh Cribbs poster up there soon, since Cleveland will always be the Brown’s town. It probably won’t carry a Lebron pun. Till this day, Lebron jerseys are still being burned in Cleveland.
To Cleveland fans: It is time to move on. Time to focus on the future. Don’t let this situation crush the hopes of the entire city and state of Ohio. When obstacles come in front of our paths, instead of giving up and turning around, we have to stay strong and move forward. We have to stay calm in order to find correct solutions around our obstacles. Instead of looking at the negative, we have to see the good of the situation and the possibilities to follow. Instead of fearing the changing world and fighting it, we must stay cool and deal with it:

Stack Party Preparations

On Thursday, Jovan and Mimi from No Techno Records stopped by the office. We talked about the next Stack Party coming on August 21st. We gave them a tour of the office, then went over the layout for the party, where the DJ will be, the bar, etc. David and Eddie went over the filming for the party while Mitch and I were calculating how many tables and chips we would need. The party is a month away, but it will be here in the blink of an eye. The last party went well, and we want to be even more prepared this time in order for everyone to keep stress free and have a good time. Stay tuned for more info as the calendar turns to August 21st.

Stack Cribs

In this edition of Stack Cribs we’ll be taking a look into my home studio/office. Some days we won’t meet in the office and i work from my home office. This is where the MAGIC happens! HAHHAH…. I mean, the office is cool and all but some of the most creative ideas and concepts happen right here during the wee hours of the night. For those that don’t know or who care to know about where “Stack” originated from.. it started out as a small record label years ago with the name spawning from a poker game. While playing poker, i was stacking my chips after a big win and was thinking… damn… STACK! THAT IS WHAT IS UP! At the time, i was working with a few hip hop artists and producing music and the concept was that the quality of the music would be dope but we’d stay away from talking BIG. We’d avoid that road until we crossed it at a later date. Well… some things didn’t pan out the way we hoped it would and a few years later, STACK CLOTHING was born. See… the concept all along was to do merchandising and sell cd’s and clothing at the shows but when things didn’t go exactly how we planned… things were put on PAUSE till now. Ok… enough about that. More stories later…. for now, my studio. Here are a couple pix:

Some of the equipment is old school but they get the job done. I have some more equipment at the office as well but its just more comfortable creating at home sometimes. Something about having no phone calls or interruptions wearing bball shorts and wife beater. (do people still call them that? wife beaters? Now that i’m married… its kinda weird calling undershirt tank tops that) Anyway, i got an omni studio for my audio interface, some maudio bx8′s, a Audio Technica Mic (someone stole my friggin Rode NTK about a year ago… i’m still pissed about that. Home invasion has to be one of the worst things in life to experience), a mackie dfx-6, triton extreme and my original baby the MOTIF 6. These toys have given me years of joy and good times. Anyway, me and DJ Dilly (Stack David) have been cooking up some new stuff that we might feature one day on the Stack Blog so stay tuned. Oh, and those Stanton turn tables have been seriously neglected. When i moved to Downtown LA, i just never had the space to hook them up. If we move, i might give those boys some love again. Till next time…. Keep Stacking!!!!
- Stack Deacon Out.
El pollo loco lunch Tuesday!
Posted by deacon | Filed under Uncategorized |

Cruised into the office at 12pm today cuz my my new HTC evo’s alarm didn’t go off!!! Damn PHONE!! I downloaded an android app called “task killer” that closes unnecessary files to save the battery life but didn’t think that it wouldn’t allow the alarm to work. Glad i found out today instead of on an important meeting though. Anyway… note to self, don’t shut down the clock app EVER.
Went to sleep pretty late after trying to install windows XP on a copy of Windows 7 so i could dual boot cuz music production is sucking ball sack on Win 7 and grew impatient. So i ran over to the office without eating and got hungry after 30 minutes or so. EL Pollo Loco RUN!!! Get in there and see a $5 double yo chicken special. Stack is on it…. Fed 5 people with left overs for under $20 (could have probably fed 2 more). Beautiful… If you ever need some good grub that’s not gonna add on an extra 3 days of p90x to work off the grease (pizza, hamburgers, etc) and have a group of hungry people to feed…. EL POLLO it up!
Anyway… went over a few things today about doing a Stack Newsetter, Getting our labels finalized and some other marketing ideas. Good stuff and hopefully we can execute successfully. Working our tails off here in hopes to keep stacking but its gonna take some time. INCREMENTAL GROWTH! Anyway… stay tuned for some exciting things as we’re constantly thinking of new ideas and fresh concepts. (One of the ideas were of doing a Lebron Tee with his face wearing a crown of FIRE in homage of the new and improved MIAMI HEAT!)
To sum it up… Good food, Good meeting, Good times.
EPL is STACK!!! (*note: in our dictionary, STACK = DOPE… we got a advanced copy of the 2012 Websters Dictionary and its there. you’ll see….)
Weekend In Vegas
Posted by sMoKes | Filed under Stack Poker |
I got to Vegas on Thursday.. did a little gambling.. ate some yummy food..
@ 6pm, got back to our hotel, Aria, and watched the ESPN special on where Lebron was going.
All i can say is “WOW”!!!

Watch out NBA, I mean Lakers

First meal in vegas

On Friday, some of us went to check out the World Series of Poker, Main Event @ Rio:

Walking down the hallway, we see big posters of:

the field:

Teddy “Iceman” Monroe: The man is so blinged out! Such a nice person.

Michael Mizrachi racking in chips:

Dennis Phillips:

Gotta wait till November to find out who’s gonna be on this wall:

While at Rio, my gf comes up $450 from a penny slot:

Went to the liquor store to get some alcohol and we see this:

Mac King Comedy/Magic Show:

Clubbin at Haze in Aria:

I’ve never slept so much in Vegas. One night we slept for over 12 hours and didn’t really do anything on Saturday. Does that mean I’m getting old?
Well, some of our team Stack members should be in Vegas again next month. Maybe I can win some of my money back then.

NBA 2K11 Jordan Cover Released!
Posted by ThomasG | Filed under Uncategorized |
Official 2K11 cover released. Here’s an update:

With Jordan on the cover and in the game, 2K11 is probably going to be the biggest selling basketball game of all time. Release date is scheduled for Oct 05. Grab your copy on release date and challenge Team STACK online. Now that Lebron is in Miami, I won’t be picking the Heat. I won’t even need the Lakers to win. I’ll pick the Warriors, and Stephen Curry will make it rain 3′s all over D.Wade and Lebron. And if I miss? I got David Lee to box out Bosh and clean up all the boards.
“This arguably is the best trio ever to play the game of basketball,” proclaimed Dwyane Wade at the Heat welcoming ceremony.
No, Wade. That is incorrect. Michael “His Airness” Jordan and any two guys off the street were the best trio in basketball…

GOAT status

Shirt Samples IN!
Posted by deacon | Filed under Uncategorized |
Today was rad. Came into the office, fired up my computer, caught up with STACK Mitch about his weekend vegas trip then headed out for some lunch at CATCH 21. Pretty good food but the asian ladies kinda tripped me out in the front. They were all kinda just standing in the front waiting for commands and seemed a little robotic to me. Almost like the vibe that would be in a communist restaurant with the servers all fembot style. I dunno…. just a random side thought.
Anyways, shortly after lunch we headed over to see our samples of our shirts and they came out PERFECT!!! It was a little scary because the original samples kinda came out janky with the shirt hair visible but this time around they got it right. I guess the secret was the triple white PASS!!!! PRESS HARD FOLKS!!!! Just a little tip if your printing on black shirts with oil based ink. Here is a shot of the sample:

anyway, we should be getting the shirts in about 2-3 weeks so STAY TUNED!!!! ~ Today I didn’t even have to use my AK, TODAY WAS A GOOD DAY!
Poker News: Eastgate Quits Poker; WSOP Main Event
Posted by ThomasG | Filed under Stack Poker |
Just two years after becoming the World Series of Poker Main Event champion, Peter Eastgate is going to take a break from professional poker at the age of 24. The announcement came as a surprise to many in the poker world:

“When I started playing poker for a living, it was never my goal to spend the rest of my life as a professional poker player. My goal was to become financially independent. I achieved that by winning the WSOP Main Event in 2008. The period following has taken me on a worldwide tour, where I have seen some amazing places and met many new people; it has been a great experience. In the 20 months following my WSOP win, I feel that I have lost my motivation for playing high level poker along the way and I have decided that now is the time to find out what I want to do with the rest of my life. What this will be, I do not yet know. I have decided to take a break from live tournament poker, and try to focus on Peter Eastgate, the person. I want to thank PokerStars, my friends and family for their support over the last 20 months and for their support in my decision to take a break from poker.”
Good Luck to Eastgate in whatever he decides to do with all that time and money.
In other news…

The WSOP Main Event has started!
1,125 entrants took their seats for Day 1a on Monday. Chris Moneymaker, Corwin Cole, Jakob Karlsson and Barry Shulman each finished with more than 100,000 in chips. Corwin Cole led the day with 228,200. 2004 Main Event champion Greg Raymer, was eliminated early in the day. Victor Ramdin, Isaac Haxton, Mike Caro, Jimmy Fricke and Nikolay Evdakov also will not be back for Day 2.
Day 1b on Tuesday saw 1,489 players. By the end of play Tuesday, another 500 or so entrants were out of the tournament. With 201,050 in chips, James Danielson led the day. A few who will not be returning to the action include Arnaud Mattern, Jennifer Tilly, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Ivan Demidov, Liv Boeree, Joe Sebok and Erick Lindgren.

Stack Beats – EDC 2010
Posted by David | Filed under Stack Beats |

EDC 2010 (Circuit Grounds)
If there were only two words to sum up the events that occured this past weekend, it would be “inspirational chaos”. Friday, after wrapping up the Stack T–shirt tags with the team, I cruised over to the Coliseum to see the likes of Jack Beats, Bart B More, Claude VonStroke, Deadmau5, and Swedish House Mafia, etc. My buddy hooked me up with a ticket so I just had to pay $40 for parking (thanks for the warning Mitch).

Finishing up the tags at the office...
Entering EDC was no easy task… Willcall peeps gave me the wrong ticket and I had to wait in line twice. I was seriously contemplating on going home but a little voice of electronic–music–producer–reason told me to stay…

Swedish House Mafia
… And I’m so glad I did – just experiencing the main stage blew my mind and took me to higher states of consciousness, even though I was stone cold sober. With 185,000 people, the place was STACKED. Swedish House Mafia were transitioning out of the Chris Moody Remix of Justice’s “We Are Your Friends” as I walked in. I was speaking with my co–producer, who goes by the name of Light, about the differences between the big room DJs, and the big festival (massive) DJs. SHM, Laidback Luke, Above & Beyond, Benni Benassi, and Armin all have a particular way they carry themselves on stage – it’s as if they are completely in tune with the music they are spinning and the demands of the crowd. They look as though they belong on stage… that all their time and hard work has gotten them to that point…
Anyway… enough DJ talk. But I will add that Claude VonStroke and Bart B More played the best sets of the night IMO. Oh…and after the festival, I made that $40 parking payment back cuz some random peeps from Ireland jumped into my car as it was stuck in traffic on Figueroa. I gave them a ride back to their hotel.
All the visual and sonic stimulus got me all riled up with creative juices, so when I got back into the studio I had to lay it down by working on a few tracks with both Light and C8sta. Keep checking back cuz I’ll have a track up for pre-listening sometime this week.
Until next time…
