Oh OH Oh~ Moheak Radio!

Much props to the guys over at Moheak Radio!!!!  Last night they did a co-event with “Goldenvoice” (or you might know them more for throwing their yearly “Coachella” show in Indio, CA) at the Music Box for a Morcheeba concert.  Here are some pix:

Anyway, we are fortunate to be good friends with the guys over at Moheak radio and love what they are doing. They are always keeping it cutting edge and pushing the limits of radio. These are the guys that started the old indie 103.1 out of Los Angeles. After indie 103.1 went off the air, they re-started a “internet only” radio station that can also be streamed directly from your iphone or android phones. Pretty cool stuff…. As music evolves, so does the way that we consume it right?!

Anyway, we’ve done a few collaborations with them in the past and hope we can do some things in the near future. I’ve seen them grow from just a few guys to now having personalities like Dave Navarro from Jane’s Addiction, Kevin Bronson from the LA Times, Keith Morris from Black Flag and more… Anyway, congrats on the event and good luck with your event out at SXSW!

The Plot Thickens

Hey Stackers,

My bad for being a lil MIA.  Things are getting crazy in the office… been real busy prepping for our party on August 21st and getting web work done.  This entry is a little rushed cuz i gotta go screen some shirts…

On Tuesday, graphic design guru Steve came through the office and we were able to throw down a few designs with our brand new plotter.  Don’t get mad when we tag up your streets with our vinyl.  It’s all part of the Stack LA beautification process (;

Today I spent most of the day configuring my work space and helping Deacon purchase new gear for his studio.

first piece of equipment for stack records??? AD/DA converters ftw.

Stack Beats – New VIVUS Track

nfyj

Hey people.  David here again.  Today I got a track for you fresh out of our studio.  I’ve been with the band VIVUS (pronounced “veevooz”) for about a year and a half now.  This track is still in demo mode but I just wanted to give y’all a taste of what’s been cookin’ up.  Enjoy.

(You might have to hit “refresh” to see the player)

If it doesn’t show up, just go here.

Stack Beats – EDC 2010

EDC 2010 (Circuit Grounds)

If there were only two words to sum up the events that occured this past weekend, it would be “inspirational chaos”.  Friday, after wrapping up the Stack T–shirt tags with the team, I cruised over to the Coliseum to see the likes of Jack Beats, Bart B More, Claude VonStroke, Deadmau5, and Swedish House Mafia, etc.  My buddy hooked me up with a ticket so I just had to pay $40 for parking (thanks for the warning Mitch).

Finishing up the tags at the office...

Finishing up the tags at the office...

Entering EDC was no easy task… Willcall peeps gave me the wrong ticket and I had to wait in line twice.  I was seriously contemplating on going home but a little voice of electronic–music–producer–reason told me to stay…

Swedish House Mafia

… And I’m so glad I did – just experiencing the main stage blew my mind and took me to higher states of consciousness, even though I was stone cold sober.  With 185,000 people, the place was STACKED.  Swedish House Mafia were transitioning out of the Chris Moody Remix of Justice’s “We Are Your Friends” as I walked in.  I was speaking with my co–producer, who goes by the name of Light, about the differences between the big room DJs, and the big festival (massive) DJs.  SHM, Laidback Luke, Above & Beyond, Benni Benassi, and Armin all have a particular way they carry themselves on stage – it’s as if they are completely in tune with the music they are spinning and the demands of the crowd.  They look as though they belong on stage… that all their time and hard work has gotten them to that point…

Anyway… enough DJ talk.  But I will add that Claude VonStroke and Bart B More played the best sets of the night IMO.  Oh…and after the festival, I made that $40 parking payment back cuz some random peeps from Ireland jumped into my car as it was stuck in traffic on Figueroa.  I gave them a ride back to their hotel.

All the visual and sonic stimulus got me all riled up with creative juices, so when I got back into the studio I had to lay it down by working on a few tracks with both Light and C8sta.  Keep checking back cuz I’ll have a track up for pre-listening sometime this week.

Until next time…
